http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKpDifyDIp0 So I'm sitting here at home, sick from school and I'm flipping through the channels when I stop on a movie called, "Real Women Have Curves." It's about a girl whose mother is too overprotective and they are Spanish. It's a pretty good movie, except for the fact that half of it is in Spanish and I can't understand it. Well I guess I thought I couldn't understand it at first. I was overwhelmed by how quickly and fluently they could speak in both English and Spanish, and I thought to myself, "There's no way I'll ever be able to do that." But then I stopped psyching myself out and I realized that if I think about it and just take it one word at a time, and not cheat by looking at the bottom of the screen, I could understand it for the most part. Some of the words I could pick out were por favor (please), de nada (you're welcome), que bonita (pretty), ¿y tú? (and you?), señor (Mr.), te amo (I love you), and a couple more that I don't remember. I also learned a little about the Spanish background if this movie is legit. I learned that the mothers are very overprotective of their daughters. I also learned that they truly believe in hard work and that in the end it will pay off and make you feel good about yourself. Lastly, this movie got me to like Spanish music. Throughout the entire movie, Spanish music was playing in the background. I truly believe this movie was pretty educational for me. So, not only did I have the luxury of just watching the movie, but I also got to learn some things from it.
