spanish workers

Was walking on the side of the road and met the spanish men working on the bridge and started to talk to one of them. I asked him his name but I couldn't understand him cause he talked to fast. What I did hear was y tu and I told him my spanish name and by that time his boss said something to him and he ran off and I was walking again.
